Library Layout

1st Floor (downstairs – 1st floor is the designated quiet study area)

Non-fiction books you can check out. Study & lounge areas – includes work tables, study carrels, and lounge chairs.

2nd Floor (main floor)

Circulation Desk - where you check out, renew, and return books, videos, and other library materials; inquire about loan periods; pay library fines; and check out reserve materials.

Reference Desk - Reference Desk staff can assist you in locating items or information, provide guidance in researching a topic, or assist you in using any of the print or electronic resources in the library.

Surf City - Computer workstation area. Computers include access to the Internet and MS Office Suite (ex: Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Computer Lab - The lab (Rm. 202) is primarily reserved for library instruction.

Study / Lounge Areas - You are welcome to study here, meet in groups, or just relax for a while. 2nd floor includes work tables, study carrels and lounge chairs.

• Material you can check out - New fiction including current best sellers (located at Circulation Desk counter & around the corner), popular DVDS/videos, and instructional videos.

• Material you cannot check out - Reference books, magazines, newspapers & reserve materials.

Laser printers

Photocopiers - $.10 for each page photocopied. Color prints: $.25.

Fax machine - $1.00 for the first page, $.10 for each additional page. Additional phone charges will be applied to faxes sent outside the United States.

Fiction/Short Story books you can check out.

 

Location of Materials

  • Nonfiction books you can borrow are on the first, or bottom, floor.

  • Fiction books you can borrow are on the second floor around the circulation desk and on the third floor.

  • Magazines and journals are on the second floor.  These must stay in the library, but you may copy articles from them.

  • Videos and books on tape are on the second, main, floor.

  • Reference Materials
    Books, magazines, and journals on the second, main, floor, are reference materials that must stay in the library.  Selections from these may be copied.

    Quiet Policy

    First Floor - Quiet Area

    The quiet study area of the library is all of the first floor of the LRC building.
    Conversation and other noise is to be minimal.
    When conversation is necessary it must be at a low volume level on the first floor.
    The first floor is the floor at the bottom of the LRC building.

    Second Floor

    Library users and staff may hold low to medium volume conversations.

    All Other Areas of the Jamestown Campus Library and the Greensboro and High Point Campus Libraries

    Library users and staff may hold low to medium volume conversations.

     

    Useful Information

    Printing and photocopying

    Color and black and white printing available.

    Photocopier-cost is .10 a page. 

    GTCC Class and student use of the computers get first priority.

    Individual recreational use is permitted, but if someone needs a computer for educational purposes, you may be asked to give up your seat.  This is at the discretion of the library staff on duty. 

    A fax machine is available at the Reference Desk of the Jamestown library. The charge for sending a personal fax is $1.00 for the first page and $ .10 for each page thereafter.
